Egypt is the oldest tourist destination on earth – the Ancient Greeks and Romans started the trend. Today the attractions of the country are not only the monuments of the Nile Valley and the souks, mosques and madrassas of Islamic Cairo, but the natural wonders of the Red Sea, Sinai and the Eastern and Western deserts; fantastic coral reefs and tropical fish, dunes and rockscapes not to mention the ancient fortresses and monasteries.
Known as the “City of Minarets” Cairo is a must for many who are attracted to the famous Pyramids at Giza, the Phinx and the myriad of treasures including relics from the tomb of Tutankhamun. Luxor, situated on the west bank of the Nile, offers truly amazing sightseeing at the famous temples of Karnak and Luxor. Here you can wander down the wide corniche that borders the Nile as it flows through the City and its bazaars. Or be tempted to see the best of the Nile from one the elegant ships which glide down this mighty river as they have done for centuries. Then perhaps on to the Red Sea for some relaxation beside the sparkling waters, golden sands and outstanding diving opportunities.
