Anse Chastanet - St Lucia

Anse Chastanet gives you a chance to find out what Caribbean resorts were like before air-conditioning and television took over. At the resort you get the chance to be cooled by the Caribbean trade winds and every suite is positioned so that viewing the spectacular views and sunsets every evening is a priority.

The estate encompasses 600 lush tropical acres bordering two soft sand beaches. Not only do you get a World Heritage Site anchored by the twin peaks on land, the resort’s two crystal-clear bays are part of a designated marine reserve protecting miles of colorful coral reefs teeming with tropical fish.

To make the most of the panoramic views and the refreshing trade winds Anse Chastenet’s octagonal whitewashed cottages come with wraparound flower draped balconies and louvered windows.

The Extra-Large Deluxe and Premium rooms underscore the visionary, innovative and sometimes whimsical side of the architect owner. In one suite, the balcony is built around a full-grown red gommier tree; in another a flamboyant tree drapes its red blossoms around the balcony. Some have their 4th wall open entirely to the views, yet are completely private.

Anse Chastanet emphasizes the use of local woods and other local products in the room decor and furnishings. Cushions and bedspreads are made from colorful cotton fabrics called madras, the island's "national cloth, all furniture is individually designed and handmade in the region.
